Lesson 2.6 - Practical Check

Chapter 2 should leave the Dealer with practical platform awareness, not engineering detail. The key skill is to separate symptoms by system layer and collect useful evidence before escalation.

Chapter Review

  • Describe the main platform layers in plain language.
  • Identify whether a symptom is more likely related to access, quotes, execution, risk or reporting.
  • Collect time, symbol, account, order, quote and Bridge evidence before escalation.
  • Avoid calling every issue a generic “platform problem.”
  • Respect the boundary between monitoring, review and production change.

Scenario Output

During London session, XAUUSD spread widens sharply and several orders receive timeout responses. Clients can still log in. Bridge queue increases briefly, then normalizes. One quote source shows delayed quote updates.

Produce a platform issue review record.

Behavior Standard

  • Confirm client login first, then review quotes, Bridge, orders and reporting layers.
  • When multiple symptoms appear at the same time, classify them separately instead of calling everything a system issue.
  • Record verified facts only; use “under review” when root cause is not confirmed.
  • Do not independently change production configuration, symbol parameters, group conditions or trading rules.
  • Notify the Shift Leader if order impact expands, timeouts continue or quote-source delay does not recover.

Example Output

Time: London session 15:42
Observation: XAUUSD spread widened sharply and several orders received timeout responses; client login remains normal.
Affected scope: Currently concentrated in XAUUSD. No similar pattern confirmed on other major symbols.
Login / connection status: Clients can still log in. No broad access issue currently indicated.
Quote / chart status: XAUUSD spread widened. One quote source shows delayed updates and requires comparison with other quote sources and chart behavior.
Bridge / execution status: Bridge queue rose briefly, then normalized. Timeout frequency requires continued monitoring.
Order impact: Some timeout responses observed. Broad execution impact not yet confirmed.
Confirmed facts: Login normal, XAUUSD spread widened, Bridge queue briefly rose, one quote source delayed.
Still under review: Number of timeout orders, affected accounts, whether quote-source delay persists and whether market conditions explain the move.
Current action: Enhanced monitoring of XAUUSD quotes, Bridge queue, timeout orders and client complaints.
Review needed from: Shift Leader; technical or quote lead if quote-source delay persists.
Actions requiring approval: Any symbol configuration, group condition, spread or trading-rule change.
Next update: Within 10 minutes, or immediately if timeout, spread or client impact expands.

Pass Standard

The trainee should turn platform symptoms into a reviewable evidence record and explain which items require monitoring, escalation or approval.

End of Chapter 2
