Module 2 — Live Monitoring

1. Symbol Overview

Use Symbol Overview to scan all symbols and bring unusual rows to attention. Focus on operational meaning rather than dashboard implementation.

Field What the Dealer checks
Symbol / Maker Pool Which product and pricing pool the row represents
Bid / Ask Whether both sides are updating and moving plausibly
Spread Whether the spread is stable, widening or changing abruptly
Updated Whether the quote remains fresh or has stopped
LPs Whether expected Quote Sources are online and contributing
M_micro A volatility cue that helps prioritise review; not a conclusion by itself
Sparkline Whether recent spread movement is widening, narrowing or unstable

When a row is highlighted, first confirm the timestamp and compare the related quote, connection and client-facing panels. Do not treat colour alone as proof of an incident.

2. Connection Status

Connection Status answers a basic question: is each required platform and Quote Source connection healthy now?

Check connection state, session state, last update, repeated reconnects and whether the issue affects one connection or a wider group.

3. Decision Stream

Decision Stream is the real-time order-flow view. Use it to find large orders, rapid close activity, repeated transactions, rejections, timeouts and other events that require review.

For any selected order, preserve the order ID, account or UID, symbol, direction, volume, server time, result and visible decision evidence.

4. Exposure

Review Exposure by symbol, direction, account or UID concentration and time window. A low net figure does not automatically mean low risk; offsetting positions can hide large gross activity or concentrated client direction.

Monitoring Rhythm

Scan → Prioritise → Verify → Record → Escalate → Recheck

Practical Scenario

XAUUSD spread widens while Updated remains current. One Quote Source has stopped contributing, Decision Stream shows several large orders, and Exposure is increasing in one direction.

What to check: independent prices, Quote Source status, affected pool, timestamps, relevant orders, account concentration and whether other symbols are affected.

Common mistake: calling it a bad price solely because the spread is wider.

Escalation trigger: confirmed deterioration across related evidence, client impact, concentrated Exposure, stopped updates or uncertainty that cannot be resolved promptly.

Completion Criteria

  • Can explain the purpose of the four core monitoring views.
  • Can identify the evidence needed for a highlighted symbol or order.
  • Can distinguish a monitoring cue from a confirmed incident.
  • Can apply the lesson correctly in a supervised scenario.
